We’re devolping a number of process in which to find, extract and report on the news media’s coverage of the personal support worker industry.
Google News Canada is a good starting place, as it brings together a number of local newspapers into one cohesive engine.
For the week of July 29th – August 5th only five results were found for the keyword search term “personal support worker”. Below is a screen capture of the news results:

I would classify these articles in the following fashion:
Advertisement (1)
Medical Related (1)
Letters to the Editor (1)
Unrelated (2)
PSW as the main subject (0)
Not a great showing for the industry. Over the past week there were a grand total of zero PSW focussed articles by newspaper writers. Such an odd occurrence by a growing industry.
Next time around we will begin to look at the impact of PSW in the online world, starting with some of web 2.0 technologies.
